Recent trends in transport and communication infrastructures have had a profound impact on the tourism industry. Despite the growing number and importance of online travel agencies and travel metasearch sites tourism literature addressing this issue is very scarce. This paper aims to examine the temporal changes of return airfares on online travel agency (OTA) and travel metasearch websites from Budapest to three short-haul destinations for fixed departure dates in high and shoulder season. The study was based on quantitative research methods using automated internet data collection and statistical analysis (ANOVA tests). During the study, we created a database containing more than 31 thousand ticket prices over a 182-day period for the three selected destinations. Empirical findings showed that no single website offered lowest airfares consistently and metasearch sites outperformed OTAs in almost any cases by offering lower airfares. Results also indicated the best time to book flights on the selected sites, airfares for shoulder season were significantly cheaper than for high season and ticket prices tend to be more expensive on Mondays and Sundays

It is important for social justice that the principle of equal participation of citizens in elections is upheld. This is often unequal because the value of the votes is determined by where they cast their votes. In addition to the type of electoral system and the distortions of geographical delimitation, citizens' participation in the electoral process is significant. The economic and social status of the regions has a significant effect on electoral activity and its spatial dimensions also have an impact on the distribution of mandates. Therefore the examination of the geographic context of the electoral subject is the current issue. For this reason, the study examines the research question on the relationship between the economic situation and the turnout at the constituency and municipal level. With mathematical, statistical and GIS methods were used to study this topic. The results of the research provide an insight into the disparities in electoral participation at the constituency and municipal level in the light of the results of 2010, 2014 and 2018 parliamentary elections. Moreover, the investigation analyses the interrelations between turnout and socioeconomic status at a different level

A tanulmány célja – egy új, minden korábbinál szélesebb spektrumú és hosszabb időtávú – a magyar ügynökség-típusú szervezetek nagy részét, illetve a rendszerváltás óta eltelt negyedszázadot felölelő – empirikus adatfelvételre alapozva – ezen, részben rivális, részben egymást kiegészítő hipotézisek magyarázó erejének empirikus tesztelése, illetve ennek alapján új magyarázó hipotézisek megfogalmazása

In modern democracies it is a vital issue how different electoral systems convert the votes cast by the voters to parliamentary seats. The effects of geography on political representation is of high importance especially in those countries where the votes are cast within some territorial framework which is especially the case in majority based or mixed electoral systems. The relevance of this Ph.D. dissertation is that in the mixed electoral system having been applied in Hungary since the change of regime, the number of the voters in the constituencies has shown great inequalities. This inequality has further grown due to demographic changes, therefore, the correction of the electoral system became necessary. After 2011 the new law transformed the framework of the elections and reduced the number of MPs from 386 to 199. The changes have involved the reduction of the number of individual constituencies from 176 to 106 and the complete rearrangement of the borders. Therefore during my research primarily I wanted to answer the following question: what type of electoral bias did characterize the Hungarian electoral system between 2002 and 2018? In order to answer this main research question, I have had several partial questions to be answered. The dissertation based on mathematical, statistical and Geographic Information System analysis using social, demographic and election data. Based on Hungarian parliamentary elections the dissertation highlights that the geographical bias (gerrymandering, malapportment, reactive malapportionment) how shaped the inequalities between 2002 and 2018. It is important to emphasize that political representation is dynamically formed by the voters and the spatial pattern countinuously changes over time. Therefore, the demographical and mobility processes taking place in the rural and urban areas also have to be taken into consideration when drawing the boundaries of constituencies so that the principle of equal voting should not be violated

Hexapod Design For All-Sky Sidereal Tracking

In this paper we describe a hexapod-based telescope mount system intended to provide sidereal tracking for the Fly's Eye Camera project -- an upcoming moderate, 21"/pixel resolution all-sky survey. By exploiting such a kind of meter-sized telescope mount, we get a device which is both capable of compensating for the apparent rotation of the celestial sphere and the same design can be used independently from the actual geographical location. Our construction is the sole currently operating hexapod telescope mount performing dedicated optical imaging survey with a sub-arcsecond tracking precision.Comment: Accepted for publication in PASP, 10 page
